Following are the instructions for opening the File-AID Data Editor
Important
To access z/OS data through Topaz Workbench or Eclipse, you must have a File-AID license for the type of data you want to access (File-AID/MVS for z/OS data sets and z/OS UNIX files, File-AID for Db2 for DB2 data, File-AID for IMS for IMS data). To access distributed RDBMS data through Topaz Workbench, you must have a Topaz Workbench license.
To Open File-AID Data Editor
- From the Compuware menu, select File-AID Data Editor to display the Host Explorer view.
- Expand Hosts > <desired host>.
Expand File-AID for Db2 to work with DB2 data, expand z/OS Data sets to work with MVS data sets, expand z/OS UNIX Files to work with files in z/OS UNIX (USS), or expand File-AID for IMS to work with IMS databases. Expand your JDBC connection to work with an RDBMS in Topaz Workbench. Click one of the Related Topics links for complete details depending on the type of data you want to browse or edit.
Important
- When you access a mainframe HCI host or JDBC connection for the first time, you will be prompted to supply credentials. When you supply credentials, you have the option of saving the credentials so that you will not have to provide them again on future access attempts to this host as long as the saved credentials remain valid. Once your access is granted, verification checks are performed to confirm your installation of the Compuware File-AID products required for the File-AID Data Editor. Messages confirming the status of the installation of File-AID products are written to the Console view. (To display the Console view if not shown, use Window > Show View > Console.) If File-AID products are not installed, licensed, and updated with required maintenance, Host Explorer navigation paths for File-AID for Db2 and/or File-AID for IMS may be suppressed, and the ability to invoke the File-AID Data Editor from a list of z/OS Data sets or z/OS UNIX files may be disabled. Similarly, the File-AID Dataset Search/Update option of the Search menu may not function. The File-AID Data Editor may limit some functionality if it detects that the version of File-AID is back level or does not contain the most current PTFs.
The first time you view navigation paths for a z/OS Host (
File-AID for Db2
,
File-AID for IMS
, z/OS Data sets, or z/OS UNIX Files), you will need to right-click the navigation path and select Add Filter to define a filter for selecting target objects. After you have defined at least one filter, you will be able to expand the navigation path to see the filters you have defined. You may add additional filters at any time by right-clicking the navigation path type.
