Accessing Distributed RDBMS Data

Following are the instructions for accessing distributed RDBMS data.
If you have not already started

Topaz Workbench

and File-AID Data Editor, see Opening-the-File-AID-Data-Editor.

Important

A

Topaz Workbench

Enterprise Data license is required to access distributed RDBMS data with the File-AID Data Editor.

To Access the File-AID Data Editor RDBMS Editor:

  1. You must define a filter to access distributed RDBMS tables and views. Expand any configured JDBC host connection, right-click the Database Type folder (Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server, or IBM DB2 for Linux, Unix or Windows), and select Add Filter. The Specify Filter dialog box appears.

    Important

If you have already defined a filter, you can expand the filter and continue expanding down through schemas until you reach the table or view you want to access.

  2. Fill in the Schema and Table Name you want to access. You can use the asterisk (*) wild card at any point including the first and/or last character. Click OK to save and process the filter.

    Important

When specifying Schema or Table Name, exact case is used to match your filter against the catalog. If your target schema or table names are upper case, you must specify your filter in upper case or you may not find any matches. Some SQL Server databases can be configured to be case insensitive. When in doubt, use exact case in your filter.

  3. From the list of matching objects, select the table, then do one of the following:
    1. double-click
    2. right-click and select File-AID Data Editor.
  4. The appropriate distributed RDBMS File-AID Data Editor Request view appears. For more information, see Requesting-RDBMS-Data.
  5. Enter your selection criteria and click Run. This will navigate to the data editor where you can view or edit your data.
