Browse and Edit ISPW Project Files

Once the ISPW project is set up, you can browse and edit files. Browsing and editing files creates a temporary locally cached copy of the source.

To browse and edit project files

In the ISPW project in the Project Explorer view, right-click a resource and do one of the following:

  • To open the file in the current default editor, select Open. Alternatively, double-click the file to open it.
  • To select the editor to open the file with, select Open with>editor name. Selecting Other opens the Editor Selection dialog box where you can select from all available editors.

The file opens in the selected editor. If the file is at the TEST level, it opens in edit mode. Files in all other life cycle levels open in browse mode.

Warning

Note: When opening a program in a supported editor, a message appears asking whether to download the copybooks used in the program. Click Yes or No. If you click No, copybooks are not downloaded. If you click Yes, copybooks are downloaded.

IMPORTANT: Depending on the default editor or the editor selected, if a file has a file extension that also has a local operating system association, the operating system (rather than Eclipse) may handle opening the file. For example, if Open with>System Editor is selected for a .doc file, Windows may open the resource in Microsoft Word.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
