Submit a job

To submit a sequential dataset or a PDS member as a job on the mainframe

Do any of the following:

  • From Project Explorer, right-click a dataset or PDS member that contains JCL and select Submit.
  • In either browse or edit mode of an editor, right-click within the code and select Submit.
  • From Host Explorer, right-click a dataset or PDS member that contains JCL and select Submit.

If the submit request contains valid JCL, the job is submitted and a notification dialog box appears stating that the job was successfully submitted. If the submit request does not contain valid JCL, an error message indicates that the job cannot be submitted.

Important

When submitting from an editor, the data contained in the editor at the moment of submission is submitted. Saving prior to submitting is not necessary.

To view the status of a submitted job, use JES-Explorer.

Important

If the data does not conform to valid JCL, the Submit button is usually disabled.

Optionally, set up automated job completion notification, which will notify you of the job's status via a pop-up, the Event History view, or both.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
