Search preferences
The Preferences dialog box's Search page is used to set preferences regarding search operations, such as the number of records to be returned by a z/OS dataset search and whether to display line numbers in search results.
To set the search limit
Do one of the following:
- From the Window menu, select Preferences. Then, from the navigation panel, select Compuware>Search.
- In the Search dialog box's Host Explorer Dataset Search page or File-AID Dataset Search page, click Preferences.
The Search preference page appears.
- In the Limit number of records returned to field, enter the maximum number of records you want to appear in the Search view following a z/OS dataset search. The default is 10,000 records and the limit is 99999 records. When searching, a message indicates appears if there are more matching records than the limit allows to be shown.
- Click OK.
To display line numbers in search results
Do one of the following:
- From the Window menu, select Preferences. Then, from the navigation panel, select Compuware>Search.
- In the Search dialog box's Host Explorer Dataset Search page or File-AID Dataset Search page, click Preferences.
The Search preference page appears.
- Select the Show record numbers in results check box.
- Click OK. Line numbers will appear in the Search view following a search.
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
