Browse and Edit Components

A component can be brought to the workstation and opened for browsing or editing using the default editor defined in Window>Preferences>General>Editors>File Associations. Alternatively, from some views, users can select the desired internal editor or external program to be used to open the component.

Important

To open a component that has not been checked out, the Component Versions dialog box appears for the user to select the version to open, if there are multiple versions in the life cycle. This is applicable for the Browse, Browse with, Edit, and Edit with actions.

The dialog box also appears from the Components view, where you can perform the Browse or Browse with actions because the level is not known.
