Notifications


The Notifications page of the Preferences dialog box allows users to set up automated job completion notification. Users can choose to be notified via pop-up, the Event History view, or both. Pop-ups appear at the bottom right corner of the Topaz Workbench. The Event History view, if not visible, can be opened from the Window menu by selecting Show View>Other>Host Explorer>Event History.

To set up job completion notification

  1. Ensure that the HCI has been configured to support job notification.
  2. From the Window menu, select Preferences. The Preference dialog box appears.
  3. From the navigation tree, select Compuware>Notifications. The Notifications page appears.
  4. Select the Enable notification on job completion check box to enable automated notification. It is enabled by default.
  5. Select the Show job completion events in a pop-up check box to request that a pop-up appear upon job completion. Clear the check box to disable the pop-up. By default, pop-ups are enabled.
  6. Select the Show job completion events in the Event History view check box to request that the Host Explorer's Event History view be updated upon job completion. Clear the check box to prevent the Event History view from being updated. By default, the Event History view will be updated.
  7. If using File-AID Services, in the Notification callback port field, enter the port number that the server should use to send notification back to the client. The default is 4082.
  8. If you enabled notification via pop-up, select the Pop-up tab and, optionally, modify any of the following:

    • Pop-up display time (sec): Use the spin arrows to change the number of seconds the pop-up displays before fading away. The default is 8 seconds.
    • Fade in/out step duration (ms): Use the spin arrows to change the number of milliseconds it takes for the pop-up to fade out or to fade in when the user mouses over it. The default is 80 milliseconds.
    • Number of fade in steps: Use the spin arrows to change the number of steps it takes for the pop-up to fully fade in. The default is 8 steps,.
    • Number of fade out steps: Use the spin arrows to change the number of steps it takes for the pop-up to fully fade out. The default is 20 steps.
    • Title color: Click popuptitle_textcolor.jpg to change the color of the title within the pop-up. The default is gray.
    • Text color: Click popuptitle_textcolor.jpg to change the color of the text within the pop-up. The default is gray.
    • Top gradient color: Click popupgradientcolor.jpg to change the color of the top of the pop-up as it fades. The default is white.
    • Bottom gradient color: Click popupgradientcolor.jpg to change the color of the bottom of the pop-up as it fades. The default is white.
    • Border color: Click popupbordercolor.jpg to change the color of the line around pop-up. The default is blue.

    Click Preview to see how the pop-up will appear with your settings.
     Click Restore Defaults to return to the default settings on this tab.

  9. If you enabled notification via the Event History view, select the History tab and, optionally, modify the number of events to save in the Event History view. The default is 100.
  10. Click OK to save your changes and close the Preferences dialog box or click Apply to save your changes and remain on the dialog box.
