Perform Promotion Analysis
Promotion analysis does the following:
- Performs a version audit to check whether there will be any version conflicts preventing the selected tasks or container from being promoted to the next life cycle level
- Detects any missing resources
- Detects whether a resource needs to be generated before it can be promoted.
To perform promotion analysis
Do either of the following:
- To perform promotion analysis on one or more tasks, select the tasks in the left pane of the ISPW Assignment view, right-click, and select Promote Analysis.
- To perform promotion analysis on an entire assignment container, select the container in the left pane of the ISPW Assignment view and click
.
The status bar displays a message indicating the completion of promotion analysis.
The ISPW Promotion Analysis view shows the results of the run, such as the following:
- A success message, which indicates that the task is ready for promotion
- A message that a version conflict exists
- A message that resources are referenced by the promoted tasks but were not selected as part of the promotion analysis
For example, if there are two tasks (Program A and Program B) in a container where Program A calls Program B, and only Program A is selected for promotion analysis, a message that Program B is referenced but not included in the promotion analysis will appear. - A message that resources were not included in the promotion analysis because the calling program, subprograms, or copybooks are checked out at the same level to another container
- A message that a resource requires a generate and it has not yet been attempted
- A message that a resource requires a generate because it was attempted previously and failed
The Description column gives information to help the user resolve the issue.
