Creating a new z/OS UNIX file or folder


The Host Explorer can be used to create new z/OS UNIX files and folders.

To create a z/OS UNIX folder

  1. In the Host Explorer view, right-click the filter node (filter.gif) or a folder and select New Folder. The New Folder dialog box appears.

    Note

    This menu option is not available when the selected filter contains a wildcard character.

  2. In the Folder name field, enter the name of the new folder and click OK. The new folder is immediately created on the mainframe and appears in the Host Explorer view.

To create a z/OS UNIX file

  1. In the Host Explorer view, right-click the filter node (filter.gif) or a folder and select New File. The New File dialog box appears.

  2. In the File name field, enter the name of the new file and click OK. The new folder is immediately created on the mainframe and appears in the Host Explorer view.
  3. Edit and save the new file as needed. The file is refreshed within the Host Explorer and remains in use until the editor is closed. If the editor is closed without entering anything, the empty file will remain until deleted or otherwise used.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
