CA Endevor® Software Change Manager
Host Explorer supports access to CA Endevor®-managed resources on the mainframe. The instructions below assume a working knowledge of CA Endevor® and all associated terms and parameters. Please consult CA Endevor® documentation for more information.
To add a filter for Endevor
Host Explorer filters are used to define a set of resources, such as mainframe or local files and databases, to view in the Host Explorer view.
- In Host Explorer, right-click Endevor and select Add Filter. The New Endevor Filter dialog box appears.
- Complete the fields by typing directly in each field or selecting from the drop-down menu. As the fields populate, subsequent menus display only relevant options. The asterisk ( * ) wildcard character is supported in the Element field.
- Click OK. CA Endevor® -controlled dataset members satisfying the filter criteria appear in the Host Explorer view.
To check out a dataset member from Endevor
- Right-click the Endevor dataset member you want to check out and select Checkout. The Checkout dialog box appears.
- Type or browse for the dataset into which you want to place the checked out member. If you click Browse, the Dataset Selection dialog box appears. Select the host, enter the filter, and click List to find datasets matching the filter. Then select the dataset into which you want to place the member and click OK.
- If you want the PDS member to have a different name than the Endevor member, replace the prepopulated name in the PDS member field.
- Use the Endevor Options check boxes to specify whether the checked out element is to be signed out (locked) if there is no existing lock, whether the checked out element is to replace an existing element, and whether the signout should override any existing lock.
- Click OK.
To check in a dataset member to Endevor
- Right-click a dataset member (listed under the z/OS Datasets filter) to be checked in and select Checkin. The Checkin dialog box appears.
- Specify the Endevor location for checkin. If the member was previously checked out of Endevor, the original Endevor location is prepopulated in the Endevor parameters.
Use the items under Checkin Options to do any of the following:
- Add a CCI
- Add a commen
- Delete the member once check in complete
- Override any signout of the member being checked i
- Update existing Endevor member
- Generate an elemen
Note: If you choose to generate an element, the Processor Group box is enabled. Choose to use the default Endevor processor group or select the Processor group radio button and enter the name of a processor group you want to use. If you previously checked in this member, the generate option and processor group option last chosen is prepopulated.
- Click OK.
To generate an Endevor element as a standalone process
- Right-click the Endevor element you want to generate (listed under an Endevor filter) and select Generate. The Generate dialog box appears.
- Fill-in any necessary generate options. You may choose to use the default Endevor processor group or click the Processor Group radio button and type the name of a processor group you want to use.
- Click OK.
To sign in an individual Endevor element that was checked out and signed out but not signed in
- Right-click the Endevor element and select Signin Elements. The Signin dialog box appears.
- For administrator-level users only: Sign in an element from one owner and sign it out to another owner by selecting the Signout with override from owner [owner ID] check box and specifying the new owner in the To user ID field.
- Click OK.
To sign in multiple Endevor elements
- Right-click the Endevor filter and select Signin Elements. The Signin dialog box appears with the Endevor location information prepopulated.
- If desired, filter the elements to be signed in by entering an element name and/or an associated user ID (both of which can be wildcarded).
- Click Next. The Signin dialog box appears with the list of Endevor elements satisfying the filter parameters from the prior dialog box.
- Select the check boxes in the Signin column for each Endevor element that you want to sign in.
- For administrator-level users: Sign in an element from one owner and sign it out to another owner by selecting the Signout with override check box and specifying the new owner in the To user ID field.
- Click Apply.
