Creating a New Topaz for Total Test Project

In order to start with a brand-new project, click on the total_test_16x16.png Create a new Topaz for Total Test project toolbar icon.

Alternate ways to create a new project:

  1. Select from the menu File > New > Project > Compuware > Topaz for Total Test Project.
  2. Click on the New Projectsymbol create_project_icon.png available in the toolbar and select Compuware > Topaz for Total Test Project.
  3. Right-click in the Project Explorer view, select New > Project > Compuware > Topaz for Total Test Project.
  4. Click the NEW... button in the Record Test Case dialog. See also Record Test Scenarios from Xpediter or Context Menus from Xpediter Debug Session.

After that, the New Topaz for Total Test Project Wizard will open. This is an Eclipse standard wizard which you can go through without any special requirements. You just have to enter the new project's name and the test folder name into which the Total Test folders will be created. You can enter multiple folder levels, for example "MyTests/SimpleDB2". Click Finish. The new Topaz for Total Test project appears in the Project Explorer.

Note

Project structures created with prior versions remain compatible.

To manually create the remaining Unit Test subfolders

If you want to create a Virtualized Test (Unit Test) scenario from scratch without recording, you need to manually create the remaining Unit Test subfolders:

  1. Right-click the newly created test folder, for example RegressionTest in the above Accounting project.
  2. Select total_test_16x16.png Topaz for Total Test > import_copybook.png Create Unit Test Folder.

This creates the folder structure needed to support manually creating Virtualized Test (Unit Test) tests. See also Project-Structure for a description of the folders.

Importing an Existing Project

If you already have an existing or an archived (ZIP file) Topaz for Total Test project which you want to import into your workspace, invoke the Eclipse standard wizard for the import of existing projects.

  1. Form the menu, select File > Import.
  2. Choose General > Existing Project into Workspace from the list and click Next.
  3. Select the folder containing the project data. The wizard will display a list of all projects found in the folder.
  4. Choose either Select root directory or Select archive file and click the associated Browse to locate the directory or file containing the projects.
  5. Select the one(s) you want to import.
  6. Under Projects select the project or projects which you would like to import.
  7. Click Finish.
All Topaz for Total Test projects found after having successfully imported the project, will automatically be recognized as a Topaz for Total Test project.

When Topaz for Total Test detects that projects were created with an earlier version of Topaz for Total Test, you will be prompted to upgrade (see also Topaz-for-Total-Test-Projects-Upgrade-Window).

Note

Downgrading a Test Project from a newer version to an older version is not supported.

If you are managing your projects with an SCM product, the import process may differ depending on the SCM product you use. Often the SCM product provides its own import wizard. Please refer to the SCM product manual for details.
