Related Loader
Related Loader is a data manipulation tool for developers working in the distributed client/server environment. Through a simple graphical user interface (GUI), users can load objects from the same or different databases to create a subset of larger, production databases. They can load data from a local or remote server in the following databases: DB2 Universal Database (UDB), Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and Sybase.
Related Loader inTopaz Workbench lets users create a test relational database from a larger production database by extracting, loading, and transforming related data at the client or server level. If necessary, it creates the target objects, indices, and relationships between the objects. Extracting and loading data can be performed from the same database, or users can extract from one database and load into a different database. During the same load process, users can also perform data transformations with object and file lookup capability.
Related Loader eliminates the need to code SQL interactively, write scripts or one-time programs, manually load objects one at a time, or settle for tools not designed for the developer's special needs. With Related Loader, users can safely and efficiently manage their test environment.
Related Loader organizes and simplifies the process of loading related objects in DB2 UDB, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and Sybase databases. Using Related Loader users can create a new, or use an existing, Related Loader specification from which they can:
- Change target definitions.
- Specify load options.
- Execute the load.
- View the results.
- Save the specification.
Related Loader Feature Summary
- Ability to automatically create and load objects based on user-specified parameters.
- Support for Related Loader specifications that make it possible to perform the same load repeatedly.
- GUI organized around the Load Specification notebook.
- Support of different file types for the source data including extract data file, repository extract, and the ability to load File-AID/RDX extracts.
- Ability to save and store load specification files in a repository.
Because Related Loader is a facility within the File-AID/EX product, you must install a license to run File-AID/EX before you can run Related Loader.
Related Loader can be installed on several operating systems and supports several relational database types. Refer to the Release Notes for complete information.
