Coverage Analysis Report

Coverage reporting is available for project metadata, data elements, and rules. Coverage analysis is executed first, and then coverage reports are created against the results of the coverage analysis. This can generate comprehensive metadata analysis across multiple metadata. Multiple coverage reports can be generated from a single analysis.

When a coverage report is selected, you can select which metadata should be included in the analysis. Metadata can be selected from multiple hosts. The coverage analysis will run as a batch job since a significant amount of processing is required to produce the analysis.

The internal data privacy steps that occur to create the report include:

  • The analysis process logs on to each host, expands the project metadata definitions, and requests coverage for each layout or table.
  • For each PDS in the project metadata, the list of members is expanded and coverage is requested for each member.
  • Each creator or schema in the project metadata is expanded to include all tables within that creator or schema.
  • Coverage is requested for each table individually.
  • Coverage analysis information is stored so reports can be produced after the analysis is finished.

Options make it possible to select coverage reports by object, data element, or rule. You can also specify how much information is reported (for example, only show identified fields). No update actions are available from within the coverage report.

To view the coverage analysis report, from the Coverage tab, highlight the desired host and click Run Coverage Analysis. Then from the Reports stack bar, select Coverage Analysis Report.
