Task 4.1 Install the Execution Server on Windows

This task describes the installation procedures for Standalone File-AID/EX execution server on Windows.

Task 4.1.1 Install and Configure the File-AID/EX Server for Windows

For Windows Servers, use the File-AID/EX execution servers tab of the media containing File-AID/EX. The File-AID/EX Windows execution server installs as a Windows service, which automatically starts and runs when the server is booted.

Task 4.1.2 Install File-AID Rules Engine (FARE) for File-AID/EX Execution Server on Windows

  1. From the Topaz Enterprise Data media or RFN download, select the File-AID Rules Engine tab, then select Install File-AID Rules Engine for Windows.
  2. Click Next on Introduction page, then choose the default File-AID/EX installation folder or a separate folder and click Next. Please note that the:
    • Installation of the FARE for use with File-AID/EX requires the FARE to be installed in the File-AID/EX installation directory.
    • Installation into a separate folder is for external API development only and will not be used by File-AID/EX.
  3. Click Install on the Pre-Installation Summary and click Done on the Install Complete screen.

Task 4.1.3 Register Standalone Execution Server with Topaz Workbench

  1. Once your Remote execution server is installed and started, launch Topaz Workbench.
  2. From the Window menu, select Preferences. The Preferences dialog box appears.
  3. Select Compuware>

    Topaz Enterprise Data

    >execution servers and click Add to add this execution server to the list of defined execution servers.

  4. In the New execution server dialog box that appears, specify the name and description for the newly installed execution server, and specify its IP address or machine name as host, and its port number.
  5. Click OK to save the new entry, and test connectivity to this server by clicking Test. If the connection is successful, an informational message will appear confirming that the newly added execution server has been verified.

This registration must be done for all Topaz Workbench clients that are going to use each execution server. During the initial setup, this registration is required on one client, so that client would be able to perform the following execution server configuration tasks.

Task 4.1.4 Configure Standalone Execution Server to Use Specific File-AID Services

To enable File-AID/EX to specify and execute the Dynamic Privacy Rules (as defined in disguise projects created by File-AID Data Privacy), configure FAS server details in one of the following ways:

  • Start Homebase and, from the Tools menu, select Dynamic Data Privacy. The Server Configuration dialog box appears. Enter the host name or IP address of FAS and the port number (the default port number is 4180). Click Test to ensure connectivity, then click OK to save the configuration changes.
  • Alternatively, specify FAS location and port by manually editing the DataPrivacy.properties file located in ~\ProgramData\Compuware\FAEX\cfg directory.

The modification to the DataPrivacy.properties files (performed directly in Homebase) must be made to all installations of the File-AID/EX execution servers with FARE installed.
