REXX API for CA Endevor
The REXX API for CA Endevor is a fully functional extension of REXX for CA Endevor API modules.
Why REXX?
REXX is a modern language that was explicitly designed for ease of both reading and writing. Several key characteristics contribute to this ease of use, such as:
- Character-string handling abilities and dynamic data typing (no declarations are needed, all data is treated as character strings).
- Extensive built-in functions and instructions that allow programmers to easily manipulate and parse strings.
- Number of built-in functions for file I/O.
- Fully integrated capability for passing commands to the Operating System.
- Simple debugging capabilities through the Trace instruction.
Installation
Update and execute the APICOMP JCL from the Topaz Connect production JCL dataset.
Update the following JCL symbolics:
- TGTPFX is the &prefix used from the SMP/E installation pointing to the Topaz Connect target data sets.
- CLIPFX is the high level qualifiers for the new PDS Topaz Connect data sets.
- NDVROPT is the CA Endevor current source dataset. Typically, the last qualifier of this dataset is CSIQOPTN.
CA Endevor Upgrade
If a new version of CA Endevor is required, you need to reconfigure the APICOMP JCL with the new CA Endevor dataset and resubmit the job. This will create the new version of the REXX API modules with the updated modules from CA Endevor.
