Other z/OS 2.3 features

z/OS 2.3 added support for several other features:

  • Emergency Subsystem
  • Enhanced signon and notify JCL statement
  • JES2 initialization deck checker

Emergency subsystem

  • Provided by IBM to address problem situations caused by resource shortages
  • Any batch job submitted from ESS will be exempt (it will not analyze)
  • Any TM JES2 JECL statements that are coded will be ignored
  • Exception is DCS

Enhanced signon and NOTIFY JCL statement

  • Email address may be used as USER on Jobcard
  • Notify JCL statement – up to 8 emails can be one specified
  • New TM JAL variables have been added to support these features

JES2 initialization deck checker

  • Allows an installation to verify the syntax of the JES2 initialization deck. ThruPut Manager's TMPARM statement would cause the check to fail. This support ensure the function is successful with TM installed. An RC (04) is returned indicating there are exits present.
  • TM has its own command ($MJ,TMPARM=dsname(member),CHECK) that allows you to verify TM JES2 initialization statements.
