What is an Action Language?
ThruPut Manager Action Languages allow you to write instructions that control how ThruPut Manager manages your batch load. There are two ThruPut Manager Action languages:
- Job Action Language, or JAL, which you use to define rules that control ThruPut Manager actions at the job level.
- Detail Action Language, or DAL, which you use to define the rules that exercise control at the DD/data set level.
Action Languages are simple, consisting of straightforward statements that require a minimum of programming expertise to understand and use. The terms are familiar to operations and systems personnel. The design of the ThruPut Manager Action Languages eliminates the traditional difficulties encountered in programming languages, such as loops and definition omissions. They provide maximum flexibility, since they can be changed and implemented easily. To maintain integrity and make it convenient for you, a separate Language Processor is provided to check your JAL and DAL before installing new rules.
