This command allows you to modify the data set service for a specific job.

Scope: JES2 Node

Duration: One time effect.

JOB jobnumber service-level
JOB ‘jobname’ service-level

Requests the command syntax from HELP.

JOB

Indicates that a specific job is to be modified.

The short form for this keyword is J.

jobnumber

The JES2 job number of the job to be displayed.

'jobname'

The name of the job to be displayed, enclosed in apostrophes.

service-level

The new service level for the job. It can be one of:

  • STANDBY (Short form ST)
  • CONTEND (Short form CO)
  • CLAIM (Short form CL)
  • CLAIM(R) (Short form CR)

Examples:

The command:

/DCS MODIFY JOB 1234 CLAIM

will produce the following response:

DTM7118I JOB01234 jobname SERVICE MODIFIED TO CLAIM

Notes:

  • This command overrides any other previous service requests (DAL, JAL, JECL, or a command) and applies to all the data sets needed by the job.
  • Repossession requested by CLAIM(R) service will not take effect for either relative GDG's (for example BASES(-1)) or GDG BASE data sets.
  • If the job is in an initiator with service CLAIM(R) then you are not allowed to modify its service.
