G-values for status details

Each job view panel has a Status field with an associated Details field. This appendix gives an explanation for each possible value in the Details field.

PCS has several panels that display a list of jobs with many items of information about each job, including its JES2 execution queue status, which has one of the following values: Active, Done, Failed, Pending, or Ready. The Details field further explains the Status value. If this Job Instance is executing, the JES2 Member on which this Job Instance is running may be displayed followed by the step name currently being executed.

The Details field has one of the following values:

  • *XPJOB indicates that this is a XPJOB.
  • *AGENT/XXXX indicates that this is an agent job of type XXXX.
  • DSN Triggered indicates that this job instance is only triggered by the creation of a data set and therefore, triggering is conditional.
  • DSN Not Created indicates that this job instance was to be triggered by the creation of a data set and the data set was not created during execution of the job instance that was supposed to create it. This job instance is assigned a CA 7 Status of Not Run.
  • This Job Cancelled indicates that this job instance was cancelled using the CA 7 CANCEL command. All triggered jobs as well as any repeating jobs that are dependent on this job instance are also marked as cancelled (See below). This job instance is assigned a CA 7 Status of Cancelled.
  • Triggering Job Cancelled indicates that this job instance is supposed to be triggered (directly or indirectly) by another job instance that has been cancelled by the CA 7 operator. This job instance is assigned a CA 7 Status of Cancelled.
  • Repeating Job Cancelled indicates that this job instance is supposed to be submitted by CA 7 as a repeating occurrence of some other job instance that has been cancelled by the CA 7 operator. This job instance is assigned a CA 7 Status of Cancelled.
  • This Job Skipped indicates that this job instance is a scheduled job which is due to be submitted to the CA 7 Request Queue by now. This may mean that the current cycle of this job instance has been skipped. All triggered jobs as well as any repeating jobs that are dependent on this job instance are also marked as skipped (See below). This job instance is assigned a CA 7 Status of Skipped
  • Triggering Job Skipped indicates that this job instance is supposed to be triggered (directly or indirectly) by another job instance that has the Skipped status. This Job Instance is assigned a CA 7 Status of Skipped.

  • Loa Error indicates that an error occurred during this job instance's last loading or reloading.
  • NTR Job indicates that the job had a CA 7 #NTR override control statement in its JCL and it will not trigger any other jobs, even if it normally would. All jobs that were supposed to be triggered directly or indirectly by the NTR Job are marked as Complete with a CA 7 Status of Not Run.
  • Not Triggered by NTR Job indicates that this job was supposed to be triggered by another job which was discovered to have a CA 7 #NTR override control statement in its JCL and as a result the triggering request was suppressed. All jobs that were supposed to be triggered directly or indirectly by the NTR Job are marked as Complete with a CA 7 Status of Not Run.
  • Intervention Required indicates that an action is required for the job to continue (in most cases the CA 7 RESTART command).
  • JCL-ERRORed by Converter is a type of JCL error that CA 7 is not aware of and the job is kept in the Ready queue until the operator intervenes.
  • Cancelled before Execut. indicates that the job has been cancelled by operator before its execution. CA 7 is not aware of this cancellation and the job is kept in the Ready Queue until the operator intervenes.
