AE PCS usage guide
This section explains how to deploy the many features of the Production Control Services elective feature of ThruPut Manager AE. It is a companion to AE-PCS-concepts-guide and we assume you are familiar with its contents and thus have a working knowledge of PCS terms, conventions and overall process.
This consists of
- Part 1: PCS Core Features
- Part 2: PCS Advanced Features
The core features are the set of PCS features that all installations need for a meaningful PCS implementation. They include the facilities to allow your jobs to be optimized in the context of their relationship to the rest of the schedule. The automatic features include critical path management, predicting when jobs will be late and mitigating that situation based on the importance of the work. The associated tailoring and runtime features are also described in Part 1. In particular the During a Production Cycle sections are suitable for an operator or production control person monitoring an active workload.
The advanced features are mostly independent of one another and are built on the core implementation. They answer the question, "What else can I do with PCS?"
Reference manuals are available and applicable while implementing either the core or advanced functionality. They supply the details on rules, commands, messages, and administrative or environmental tasks.
The set of ThruPut Manager AE manuals is listed at the end of this manual.
As you will see, PCS is built on the services of the SLM engine and they are detailed in the ThruPut Manager AE books.
