Task 4.12: Test in a Sysplex Environment

If you installed Strobeon several systems within an MVS sysplex, you can first determine that Strobeis correctly functioning in the sysplex environment, and then verify that the Strobeversion you are using recognizes the other systems where Strobeis installed:

  1. When you start Session Manager as described in Task 4.7.1: Start the Strobe Address Space and you have installed Strobein a sysplex environment, ensure that the following messages appear in the Session Manager log:
    • STR6169I Strobeenvironment is now created on system sysname (as member of XCF group xcfgroup)
    • STR6402I Strobe-XCF group members are: localsysnamesysname1sysname2...sysnamenn
  2. To verify that Strobeis installed on other systems in the sysplex and that Strobeon each system recognizes the other installed versions, perform the following steps after you install the ISPF panels and start Strobe:
    1. From the Strobe– Add Queued Request panel, clear the System field and press Enter.
      Strobelists all systems contained within the sysplex where a version of Strobeis installed.
    2. Submit a request to measure a job on each system listed in the XCF-GROUP, and verify it is successfully measured.

Note the following:

  1. The IBM GRS Complex includes all members of a sysplex in a single ENQ resource domain. Customers can use Alternative Serialization Products that allow the use of multiple domains, but the customer is responsible for configuring the resources appropriately to match the global ENQ systems configuration.
  2. A StrobeXCFGROUP can be a subset of a sysplex. In an XCFGROUP, Strobe's usage of ENQ specifies SCOPE=SYSTEMS and RNL=YES, which allow the ENQ to be extended to multiple ENQ resource domains if properly defined.
