Configuring Strobe Health Checks

This section describes the health checks that are supplied with Strobe. The product owner for all Compuware Strobehealth checks is CPWR_STROBE. StrobeHealth Check support is controlled by the Strobeinstallation parameter HEALTH_CHECKS. This parameter specifies whether Strobeadds product Health Checks to execute under the IBM Health Checker for z/OS. Valid values are YES and NO. The default is YES. See HEALTH_CHECKS=YES for more information.

The following checks are applicable only when Strobeparameter SSA is set to YES. See SSA=YES for more information.

  • SB_SSA_DB2_PLAN_PKG_AUTH_CHECK
  • SB_SSA_SECURITY_PRODUCT_CHECK
  • SB_SSA_JOB_PARAMETER_CHECK
  • SB_SSA_DISPATCH_PRIORITY_CHECK

The StrobeHealth Checks are standard IBM Health Checker for z/OS checks. As such, your site's default Security schema to control the installation checks will be in effect for the Strobechecks.

You can incorporate the Strobechecks into your site’s own Security schema to control and manage the installation checks by using the standard IBM Health Checker for z/OS procedure described in the following sections of the IBM Health Check for z/OS user’s guide for your installed z/OS version:

  • “Setting up security for the HZSPRINT utility”
  • "Setting up security for IBM Health Checker for SDSF support"

If you do not customize the Health Check Security Schema, then your site’s current default security rules for the HZSPRINT Utility and the SDSF CK command will be in effect for the Strobe checks.
