Milestone 5: Create Configuration Environment

This milestone contains tasks for specifying configuration details for ISPW. It should be performed for both new installations and upgrades so that the values specified are saved for future upgrades.

Important

Roles involved: ISPW Installer

Task 5.1 Launch the Installation Configuration Dialog

To launch the Installation Configuration, execute the $$SETUP EXEC provided in the SPWMINST dataset.

On the Command line, type TSO EX followed by the fully-qualified library name and REXX EXEC member name.

Example

TSO EX '<hlq>.install.SPWMINST($$SETUP)

The initial Valid Environment Values screen (Specifying the Work Dataset) is displayed.

Notes:
1 The Repository Dataset will be used to save and store information entered in the installation panels as well as some generated samples and JCL.
2 The Repository Dataset may be used when applying maintenance to ISPW at a future date.
3 The Repository Dataset may be used when upgrading to new releases of ISPW in the future.

Task 5.2 Specify the ISPW Repository Dataset

The Validate Environment Values screen is used to specify the “Work” dataset. This is where all the JCL and customized members used throughout the installation and configuration of ISPW will be stored.

  1. Type the name of the “Work” dataset in the Installation and Configuration Repository Dataset field and press Enter. Your value is saved, and the main menu for the ISPW Guided Configuration dialog is displayed (Guided Configuration Dialog Main Menu).

  2. In the HLQ for Target and Distribution libraries field, specify the high-level qualifier used for your SMP/E datasets. (This corresponds to the variable TAPEHLQ in 17.02 installations.)

    Important

If you are performing an upgrade, you can optionally enter the HLQ from your previous release in the Site High Level Qualifier field. To retain those existing datasets, be sure to skip Create SITE Datasets when you reach Milestone 10: Install Base Software.
