I – Initiate Deploy

This section provides information about Initiate Deploy.

I – Definition

Type I beside a module to Initiate Deploy of (or Implement) its deployable parts to the defined Target servers. Deploy can distribute executable parts across LPARs (to eliminate the need for shared DASD) and across platforms to Linux, Unix, Windows, etc. In this way, ISPW can provide a consistent and automatic way to manage software distribution across the enterprise.

Deploy is Usually Automatic

Usually, the ISPW Administrator defines the component parts that are deployable and the levels at which they will be deployed. They also define the Target Deploy Environments.

When a component is promoted to the next level, it may be automatically generated; and if it is defined, it will automatically be implemented/deployed as well. To request an Initiate Deploy operation manually, type I beside the Task.

If a component’s deployable parts have been deployed, a Last Op of I is displayed, as shown in the following figure for COB TSUBR03.
