ER – External References


Installation-dependent variables and datasets are defined. These external references can be defined for the entire organization or for specific application groups.

The following figure is a list of External References. It is the first screen displayed after entering option ER and selecting a version.

General Notes

A blank View code indicates that the entry for this Type Code is for the entire installation. Some entries in this table will not be applicable to all sites. If an entry is not applicable, enter “N/A”. Purchasing a new technology or deciding to use another ISPW feature could make one of these N/A fields required at a later date.

Field Descriptions

The following table describes each field for an external reference definition:

Field Descriptions

Field Name

Description

Type Code

A user-defined variable name that will be known toISPW. It is used as a cross reference to an area within ISPWwhich requires an installation-dependent value. This prevents hard coding of this information into ISPW.

View Code

This field is currently not used.

Description

A description of the External Reference.

Variable/DSN

The installation dependent value required byISPW to function within the installation.

Example:

It may be a partitioned or sequential dataset name, a UserID, a job class, or a print class.
