REPEAT (REP, R)

The REPEAT command inserts one or more copies of a record immediately after the record. Use the REPEAT command without parameters to insert one copy of the displayed record immediately after the record.

The command is available in the Edit function in Formatted and Unformatted modes.

n

Specifies the number of copies of the displayed record to insert immediately after the current record. This parameter is valid only in Formatted Edit.

Guidelines

If the currently displayed record is a segmented record, the entire record (base segment and all subordinate segments) is duplicated.

Entering the REPEAT command while editing an INPUT record adds the input record to the data set and inserts n copies after the input record. The same input record remains on the display and is available for editing following the REPEAT command. However, no additional INPUT records may be automatically created by use of the RIGHT command. The RIGHT command instead causes the first record created by the REPEAT command to be displayed.

If the MASK record is being edited, the REPEAT command is invalid and produces the message: NOT VALID FOR MASK LINE.
