Primary commands
This section describes the primary commands available in File-AID. Primary commands are entered in the COMMAND field of a screen or with a PF-key assignment. The entered command is normally erased upon successful execution. To retain the contents of the COMMAND field, enter the command name preceded by an ampersand (&).
The primary commands control search/display/edit options, including: data editing, movement through the data set, display and elimination of optional information, and PDS statistics generation. The Browse function supports those primary commands used to search for or display data, and move through the data set. Browse does not allow commands that change data. Other primary commands are used in the Print, Selection Criteria, XREF, Reformat, and Compare functions, and in the Copy, Search/Update, VSAM, and VTOC utilities.
