SAVE

The SAVE command causes the edit buffer to be written to the data set being edited.

The command is available in the Edit function in all modes and in the Selection Criteria function.

SAMEGEN

Only valid in Version 2 PDSE members. It causes the edit buffer to be written to the generation selected; no other generations are affected.

Warning

Important

Every time you issue the SAVE command without SAMEGEN for a Version 2 PDSE member, File-AID creates a new generation.

If the STATS option is set ON when a PDS member is rewritten, the PDS statistics are updated.

If rewriting the data set fails due to I/O errors or insufficient disk space, an error message is displayed. If necessary, preserve the edit data set by using the CREATE or REPLACE commands to write to another data set or PDS member.
