LABEL

The LABEL .label command associates the specified label classification with the current record in Edit/Browse. The label is entered on the command line in the form:

LABEL .xxxxx (a period followed by five characters).

You can also assign a label just by typing the .label part in the command line:

.xxxxx (a period followed by five characters).

The first character of a label must be a letter in the range A-Y. Labels starting with Z are reserved.

The LABEL command associates the specified label classification with the top record displayed in the CHAR and VFMT mode of Edit/Browse.

Tip

The LABEL command is not valid for KSDS files in Browse when Display line number in BROWSE=NO (see Display line number in BROWSE)

You can also assign a label by scrolling to the desired record and entering the .label when in CHAR or VFMT mode and with the line number column displayed.

Please refer to Using Line Labels and Line Ranges for more detailed usage information.
