FMT

The FMT command invokes the Formatted mode from Character mode, Vertical Formatted mode, or Unformatted mode of Browse or Edit. Since Character and Vertical Formatted modes display more than one record per screen and Formatted mode displays one record at a time, File-AID displays the top record on the screen in Formatted mode. The FMT command is synonymous with the MAP command.

This command is available in the Browse and Edit functions in Character, Vertical Formatted, and Unformatted modes.

The selected record is displayed as individual formatted data fields if S or X is specified for the Record layout usage field on the Edit - Data set Specification screen. Otherwise, File-AID prompts to select a layout in the Record Layout Specification panel.
