Writer instructions

Purpose

Use this page to display a banner announcement on each page of the space. Create the Space announcements page in the master space, outside of the Home branch.

You can version the Space announcements page to enable different banners to be published into different target spaces, however, the banner that is displayed in the versioned (master) space itself only displays the most recently-published banner.  If you find errors in the banner area of your versioned space and you are sure the Space announcements page is set up correctly, try publishing the page to the same space.

For more information, see Space-announcements-banners.

Removing

When an announcement is no longer needed, remove the BMC Space Banner macro.

Translation

Localized spaces using the L10n Viewport theme must change the name of this page to Space announcements l10n.  See Configuring-the-Scroll-ViewPort-theme-for-translated-spaces.

Usage

Choose one or none of the following BMC Space Banner macros.

If your space requires another kind of announcement, you can use this page in coordination with your team lead and editors.

When should I use a space announcement banner?

Use the space organization announcement after you change the content from a book-like organization (such as User Manual, Configuration Manual, and Administration Guide) to the product model.

Use the latest version announcement to push traffic to later versions. You do not need to add this to every previous version, but if you have a specific reason that you want users to be aware—for example, Google searches show content for an obsolete version—use the banner to help users find a relevant version.

When an announcement is no longer needed, remove the BMC Space Banner macro.

Space announcement This documentation space provides the same content as before, but the organization of the content has changed. The content is now organized based on logical branches instead of legacy book titles. We hope that the new structure will help you quickly find the content that you need.

Task 8 Deploying the File-AID products

This milestone contains considerations to be aware of and tasks to perform during deployment of the File-AID products.

Depending on your environment, you should review Configuring-a-new-installation-of-File-AID-products if you are deploying a new install or Configuring-File-AID-products-to-upgrade if you are deploying an upgrade.

Important

The following persons are required for this milestone:

  • File-AID Installer
  • System Administrator

Tasks

Perform the following tasks to deploy the File-AID products.

Task 8.1 Make File-AID CLISTs Available

The File-AID CLIST libraries, hlq.CXVJCLIB and hlq.SXVJCLIB should be added to the SYSPROC concatenation of your logon proc or allocation CLIST.

Important

If you choose to concatenate the File-AID CLIST libraries to other libraries in your SYSPROC concatenation, be sure the record formats (RECFM) are identical. File-AID creates its CLIST library with RECFM=FB, LRECL=80 by default.

Task 8.2 Starting File-AID from ISPF/PDF Primary Panel

When deploying File-AID, you can place options on your ISPF Panel for each of your licensed File-AID products. The following figure has the CMD values you will need for all File-AID products.

Important

If you do not want to place File-AID options on your ISPF Panel, skip to Task 8.3.

Enable FAST PATH (Optional)

If you also want to enable FAST PATH commands (for example, F.3.6) for File-AID/MVS or File-AID/Data Solutions, modify your ISR@PRIM panel as shown in the following figure. This optional FAST PATH solution is currently only available for File-AID/MVS or File-AID/Data Solutions.

Pass initial environment Db2 SSID or IMS ID to product startup (Optional)

Pass your Db2 SSID or IMS ID as an initial environment to File-AID for Db2, File-AID/RDX, or File-AID for IMS by adding FADB2ID or FAIMSID parameter with the environment ID value to your XVJRUN run:

Examples

Start File-AID for Db2 with Db2 subsystem DB2T as the initial environment.

FD,’CMD(%XVJRUN PRODID(XFD) FADB2ID(DB2T)) NOCHECK’

Start File-AID/RDX with Db2 subsystem DB2A as the initial environment.

FR,’CMD(%XVJRUN PRODID(XFR) FADB2ID(DB2A)) NOCHECK’

Start File-AID for IMS with IMS subsystem ENVT as the initial environment.

FI,’CMD(%XVJRUN PRODID(XIX) FADB2ID(ENVT)) NOCHECK’

The five individual product connections could be replaced with a single invocation of XVJRUN.

FA,’CMD(%XVJRUN) NOCHECK’                /* File-AID (sub-menu)*/

or with optional FAST PATH

FA,’CMD(%XVJRUN &FAPARM0) NOCHECK’       /* File-AID (sub-menu)*/

This would launch a File-AID sub-menu of all products as shown in the following figure (you can only successfully use the products you are licensed for).

Important

To use XVJRUN in ISR@PRIM as demonstrated, you only need the hlq.CXVJCLIB allocated to SYSPROC (Task 8.1). XVJRUN calls XVJALLOC which allocates all the files.

Task 8.3 CA Librarian and/or CA Panvalet Libraries

If you are using CA Librarian or CA Panvalet, their load libraries must be accessible for a File-AID non-directed load. Use your site preferred method to make them accessible.

Task 8.4 Modifications for VSAM Space Manager Pool Names or Volume Allocation

Important

If you do not use VSAM Space Manager or Sterling Software’s Volume Allocation Manager (VAM) with File-AID/Data Solutions or File-AID/MVS to allow allocation of VSAM clusters by pool name, skip this task.

If your installation has VSAM Space Manager or Sterling Software’s Volume Allocation Manager (VAM) and wants to allow allocation of VSAM clusters by pool name, modify File-AID/Data Solutions panels UDAMU35A, UDAMU35G, UDAMU35H, and UDAMU35X and File-AID/MVS panels XFAMU35A, XFAMU35G, XFAMU35H, and XFAMU35X from the Panels library (hlq.SXVJPENU) by following the instructions in the PROC section of the panels. Uncomment the necessary statements and add the specified pool names.
