Code Split - Settings dialog box


Use the Code Split – Settings dialog box to begin either procedure or file I/O splitting. For more information on code splitting, refer to What is the Code Splitter?.

To use the Code Split – Settings dialog box for procedure splitting

  1. If this dialog box is not open, from the Program Analyzer's Tools menu, select Code split>Procedure. If the Code split command is unavailable, analysis is not complete or the program failed analysis. Check the Diagnostics view to correct the problem.
  2. Review your setting and make any necessary changes.
  3. Click Next. Use the Code-Split-Selection-dialog-box that appears to select the appropriate procedure. Then, use the Code-Split-Run-dialog-box to start the splitting process.

    Note

     Code splitting is only available for COBOL programs.


    Note

    Procedure splitting can also be done from the Structure Chart view by right-clicking the procedure you want to split and selecting Procedure Split.

To use the Code Split – Settings dialog box for file I/O splitting

  1. If this dialog box is not open, from the Program Analyzer's Tools menu, select Code split>File I/O. If the Code split command is unavailable, analysis is not complete or the program failed analysis. Check the Diagnostics view to correct the problem.

    Note

    Code splitting is only available for COBOL programs.

    Note

    If the Code Splitter is not able to split the program, a message box appears stating why splitting is not possible. For more information, see Level 1 verification.

  2. Review your settings and make any necessary changes.
  3. Click Next. Use the Code Split – Run dialog box that appears to start the splitting process.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
