Directories dialog box

An administrator can use the Directories dialog box to change the following directory locations:

  • Favorites directory, which is where your favorites files are kept
  • Download directory, which is where a read-only version of the source is downloaded when the Download field on the Collection dialog box is set to Yes
  • To allow other users to share the repository, all users must have read/write access to the download directory so they can access the downloaded files and download to this locatio
  • The default directory is a Download directory in the UserDataPath specified during the installation (which is available in the About dialog box).
  • If you change the download directory to a directory that is remote to the machine running the Metadata Server, the Metadata Server service must be assigned a user account that has authority to read the download directory or the Learning Process will not work properly.
  • To download from the mainframe, you must have read access to the appropriate datasets on the mainframe and write access to the workstation or LAN directory to which files will be transferred.

To change a directory

  1. From the Tools menu, select Directories. The Directories dialog box appears.

  2. Click the Browse button to the right of the corresponding directory (Download or Favorites) and browse for the location you want to use.
  3. Click OK.

    Note

If you type a local name for the download directory and a share exists for any of the folders in the directory, a message appears explaining that you must enter a UNC name if you still want other users to be able to access the directory.

    Note

If you have existing source and need to change the download directory, change the directory as described above, then move the existing downloaded source to the new download location. This eliminates the need for the source to be redownloaded during the next collection run.
