Logging in

The Metadata Analyzer Login dialog box is used to log in and connect to a Metadata Server.

  1. Start the Metadata Analyzer.

    Note

License verification is done when the product is invoked. To set up licensing, refer to the Compuware Licensing Guide. Otherwise, a 45-day trial period is automatically provided.

    Note

If you are already logged in and connected to a Metadata Server, but want to change to a different Metadata Server or login with a different user ID, you can open the Metadata Analyzer Login dialog box from the File menu by selecting Connect to Metadata Server. This eliminates the need to exit the application and relaunch it to achieve these goals.

  2. On the Metadata Analyzer Login dialog box, choose the type of user you are—either Admin or Guest—from the Userid drop-down list.
  3. If you are an Administrator, type your password. This field is case-sensitive. The default password is admin. You should immediately change this password to prevent admin-level access by Guests.
  4. The host (machine) name and port number of the Metadata Server are automatically populated. The host name is derived from the XWMACFG environment variable, and the port number defaults to 1240. If, however, you want to connect to a different Metadata Server, type or select its host and port number.
  5. Click OK. The Metadata Analyzer window appears.
