Feature and Function Adoption

The Feature and Function Adoption dashboard provides a historical snapshot of feature and function adoption; bringing to light essential product capabilities that may be underutilized.

To understand feature and function adoption, it's important to understand what features and functions are:

  • Feature — a high-level product capability. For example, the Workbench product has a Host Explorer feature.
  • Function — a capability provided by a feature. For example, the Host Explorer feature has a JES Search function.

ℹ️

NOTE: This dashboard displays product usage data for a subset of products: Workbench, File-AID, and Code Debug. Other products will be added in the future.

ℹ️

NOTE: Time Range filtering does not apply to this dashboard. The dashboard shows a complete history ending at the beginning of the current month by default. To show a prior historical snapshot, please select an End Date from the dropdown in the Filters visualization.

Accessing the Dashboard

Filter Controls

The filter controls allow you to filter on important aspects of the dashboard.

  • End Date (Default: Most Recent): Filtering on end date controls the time frame for the dashboard. An end date of January 1, 2021, for example, shows all historical data until that end date snapshot. If no end date snapshot is selected, the dashboard defaults to showing the most recent snapshot.
  • Users: This filter allows you to specify a set of user IDs to represent a team or organization.
  • Product Families: This filter allows you to specify one or more product families. A product family is a set of related products.
  • Products: This filter allows you to specify one or more products.
  • Features: This filter allows you to specify one or more product features.
  • Essential Functions Only: This filter allows you to filter on essential functions only (true) or all functions (false). Filtering on essential functions allows you to focus on the most important or highest-value functions. This can also help you focus your product training efforts.

Active Users Filter

An Active Users dashboard filter is provided to allow you to filter on active users (those users who are using value-add functions) vs. inactive users (those who have only logged on to a product). This filter applies to the Workbench product family, but may apply to others in the future. The default is to show only active users.

To show inactive users, click on the filter and choose the Exclude results menu option. To show all users, click on the filter and choose the Temporarily disable menu option.

Adoption Metrics

The first section provides high-level adoption metrics.

Adoption Metrics:

  • Product Users: This is the number of users who have used at least one of the functions for the products filtered in this dashboard.
  • Features Available: This is the number of features available for the products filtered in the dashboard. If at least one user has used a feature, that feature is counted as an available feature.
  • Functions Available: This is the number of functions available for the products filtered in the dashboard. If at least one user has used a feature that is related to a given function, that function is counted as an available function.
