Uploading a user help topic

You can upload help files to Strobe that are created externally in the HTML format.

To upload a user help topic, perform the following steps:

  1. On the User Provided Help Management page, click Upload. 1748424714729-146.png
  2. In the Upload user help topic dialog box, fill in the following details:
    1748424714734-907.png
    • Author: Default value is the Strobe user name that you set in the Strobe Preferences dialog box, but you can enter another.
    • Type: Select the type of help topic: Module, CICS Resource, Language Environment Option, General. The topic is stored accordingly.
      • Module or CICS Resource: Associates your help with the existing BMC AMI help for a module, CICS resource, or adds help for any other module or CICS resource that might appear in an iStrobe report.
      • General: Help that is not associated with BMC AMI help for a module, CICS resource, or report. Enter a topic title for the help. After creating it, you can access this help only by selecting Help>User-provided help.
    • Status: Select In progress (the default status) for help topics that are under development. When you are ready to share them, select Publish.
    • Module name: The name you associate with your help topic must be three to eight characters long and is case-sensitive. Valid characters are letters, numbers, the underscore, and a leading period for Strobe pseudo-entities. A trailing asterisk can be used to link your help topic to a number of modules with names beginning with the same string. For example, the topic COB* is linked to modules named COBC000A, COBC000B, but not cobf0001.
    • Upload file: Click Browse to locate the file you would like to upload.
  3. Click OK.

After you have published your help topic, it is linked to BMC AMI help. When you click on a help link in a Strobe report, your custom help appears first. If there is BMC-supplied help for the same topic, a button appears on your help page to link to that help.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
