AutoStrobe Parameters

Detailed descriptions and default values for the parameters associated with the Strobe AutoStrobe option are provided below.

AUTOMONITOR=YES

Description: Specifies whether AutoStrobe monitoring is activated and the AutoStrobe option appears on the Strobe Options menu. You must specify the name of the AutoStrobe dataset with the STRAUTO parameter when AUTOMONITOR is set to YES. If your site is using Strobe Global Monitoring, AUTOMONITOR must be set to YES. Valid values are YES and NO.

Default: YES

AUTOACTION=MEASURE

Description: Specifies the automatic action AutoStrobe is to take when it detects abnormal application behavior. Set this parameter to MEASURE when AutoStrobe is to initiate a measurement when it detects abnormal behavior in an application that has been specified to be monitored. Using the WARNING setting causes AutoStrobe to assign the associated request the HELP-WN (warning) status and to provide data describing the abnormal behavior. Valid values are MEASURE and WARNING.

Default: MEASURE

AUTOBDMIN=2

Description: Specifies the minimum time in minutes a program must run for AutoStrobe to collect basis data.

Default: 2

AUTOCANDIDATE=YES

Description: Specifies whether AutoStrobe Candidate processing is performed. Valid values are YES and NO.

Default: YES

AUTOCANTCB=20

Description: Specifies the minimum TCB time in minutes required for job, job step, program, or system to be placed on the AutoStrobe Candidate list for TCB time.

Default: 20

AUTOCANELAP=60

Description: Specifies the minimum elapse time required for a job, job step, program, or system to be placed on the AutoStrobe Candidate list for elapsed time.

Default: 60

AUTOCANEXCP=1000000

Description: Specifies the minimum number of EXCPs required for a job, job step, program, or system to placed on the AutoStrobe Candidate list for EXCP activity.

Default: 1000000

AUTOCANFREQ=30

Description: Specifies the minimum number of runs per week required for a job, job step, program, or system to be placed on the AutoStrobe Candidate list for those that are frequently run.

Default: 30

AUTOELAPPERCNT=50

Description: Specifies the percentage used in calculating the AutoStrobe threshold for elapsed time. Valid values are 1 to 100.

Default: 50

AUTOTCBPERCNT=50

Description: Specifies the percentage used in calculating the AutoStrobe threshold for TCB time. Valid values are 1 to 100.

Default: 50

AUTOIOEVENT1

Description: Specifies the three values for the first event that defines a threshold for abnormal I/O behavior in a monitored program. The values are a greater than percentage, a less than percentage for the norm, and a consecutive number of intervals in the program where either percentage was exceeded. None of these values can be negative.

GREATER_PCT: Event triggered if values are greater than this percentage. Valid values are 0 - 100.

LESS_PCT: Event triggered if values are less than this percentage. Valid values are 0 - 100.

INTERVALS: Number of intervals for event to be triggered. Valid values are 0 - 25.

AUTOIOEVENT1
GREATER_PCT=100
LESS_PCT=75
INTERVALS=3
END

AUTOIOEVENT2

Description: Specifies the three values for the second event that defines a threshold for abnormal I/O behavior in a monitored program.

AUTOIOEVENT2
GREATER_PCT=0
LESS_PCT=0
INTERVALS=0
END

AUTOIOEVENT3

Description: Specifies the three values for the third event that defines a threshold for abnormal I/O behavior in a monitored program.

Default:

AUTOIOEVENT3
GREATER_PCT=0
LESS_PCT=0
INTERVALS=0
END

AUTOIOEVENT4

Description: Specifies the three values for the fourth event that defines a threshold for abnormal I/O behavior in a monitored program.

Default:

AUTOIOEVENT4
GREATER_PCT=0
LESS_PCT=0
INTERVALS=0
END

AUTOIOEVENT5

Description: Specifies the three values for the fifth event that defines a threshold for abnormal I/O behavior in a monitored program.

Default:

AUTOIOEVENT5
GREATER_PCT=0
LESS_PCT=0

Description: Specifies whether AutoStrobe will initiate measurements of job step programs that are on the load module list. Valid values are YES and NO.

Important

If AutoStrobe is not licensed for the system on which Strobe is initialized or the AUTOMONITOR installation parameter is set to NO,  replaces YES with NO.

Default:
NO

AUTOCICSMAX=10
