Using PARMLIB members to configure Strobe

This section outlines the configuration parameters used to customize Strobe to your installation, as well as various ways to specify them.

The information presented here assumes that you have implemented the CMSC PARMLIB according to Task 3.4, Define Privileged Access or Task 4.5, Implement the Strobe PARMLIB Under CMSC, depending on whether you are performing a new Workbench for Eclipse installation or an upgrade, respectively.

BMC mainframe products use parameter libraries, or PARMLIBs, to configure each product and common components. Strobe's PARMLIB members are named STRB00 (production) and STRT00 (test), respectively. The STRB00 and STRT00 are distributed to only include parameters that should be evaluated at installation time. A new member STRBALL has been provided as a reference point for all other Strobe parameters. Parameters required for customization may be copied from the STRBALL member to the STRB00 or STRT00 member.

To use the new PARMLIB members STRB00 and/or STRT00, the Strobe Session Manager startup procedures have been updated to include the SUFFIX=B00/T00 keyword values. If a SUFFIX keyword value is not supplied (SUFFIX=), the default PARMLIB member STR00 will be used and must be included as a member in the Common PARMLIB.

We recommend using one common data set, but can be concatenation of data set names to store your site's PARMLIB (if applicable) members in a common library. A copy of your product's parameter files must reside in the //CWPARM DD concatenation of the BMC AMI Common Mainframe Services Controller (CMSC).

Tip

Refer to the BMC AMI Common Mainframe Services Controller (CMSC) Configuration and Administration section of the Enterprise Common Components Advanced Configuration Guide for further information about CMSC.
