Usage restrictions

The following are some restrictions that you need to keep in mind.

  1.  CWDDALLU is the only utility recommended for use with any kind of BMC AMI DDIO file. However, existing JCL invoking the older utilities CWAASDUT, CWDDLPUT, CWDDSUTL, and CWFXSDUT will continue to function correctly.
  2.  CWDDALLU must be used to delete Shared Directories and/or Databases to avoid possible internal corruption. However, existing JCL invoking  the older utilities CWAASDUT, CWDDLPUT, CWDDSUTL and CWFXSDUT will continue to function correctly.
  3.  BMC AMI DevX File-AID/MVS and other VSAM-related vendor products (including vendor packages that compress or enhance buffer management on VSAM files) should NOT be used against BMC AMI DDIO files. Doing so can corrupt the contents of the file.
  4.  IDCAMS should only be used to "pre-allocate" a data set (DEFINE); it must then be formatted as a shared directory or database by using the "CREATE" command syntax for a pre-allocated file.
