Grace period

Support is available for a 14-day grace period that allows you to execute any BMC AMI product for which you have a valid license on CPUs and LPARs that are not specifically included on any license certificate that you possess. Six grace periods are supported:

  • CEC serial number not specified in a CPU_ID<> parameter of a license certificate. You may have installed a new computer in your installation, but have not yet received a license certificate that includes the new serial number. Or you may have received a license certificate that specifies the wrong serial number. In either case, you will be allowed to run any BMC AMI product for which you are licensed on the new serial number for 14 days, starting from the day the CMSC runs LMS for the first time on the new serial number.
  • CEC model name not specified in a CPU_ID<> parameter of a license certificate. You may have upgraded a computer in your installation (which changes the external model name), but you have not yet received a license certificate that includes the new model name. Or you may have received a license certificate that specifies the wrong model name. In either case, you will be allowed to run any BMC AMI product for which you are licensed on the new model name for 14 days, starting from the day the CMSC runs LMS for the first time on the new CEC model, or starting from the day the upgrade occurred if the upgrade was performed dynamically.
  • LPAR name not specified in an LPAR NAME<> parameter of a license certificate. You may have initialized a new LPAR on an existing CEC, but have not yet received a license certificate that includes the new LPAR name. Or you may have received a license certificate that specifies the wrong name. In either case, you will be allowed to run any BMC AMI product for which you are licensed on the new LPAR for 14 days, starting from the day the CMSC runs LMS for the first time on the new LPAR.
  • LPAR size (MSUS<>) on a license certificate is smaller than the currently defined LPAR limit. You may have increased the size of the LPAR dynamically, and you will be allowed to run any BMC AMI product for which you are licensed on the bigger LPAR for 14 days, starting with either the CMSC runs LMS for the first time on the larger LPAR, or the time the dynamic upgrade occurred.
  • LPAR utilization (MSUS<>) on a license certificate is smaller than the highest rolling 4-hour average utilization of this LPAR. You should contact BMC to increase the number specified on the MSUS<> operand. You will be allowed to run any BMC AMI product on this LPAR for 14 days starting from the day the LPAR utilization exceeded the specified value.
  •  LPAR Group (MSUS<>) on a license certificate is smaller than the value you specified on the Hardware Management Console (HMC) for the Group Capacity Limit for this LPAR. You will be allowed to run any BMC AMI product on this LPAR for 14 days starting from the day the Group Capacity Limit was changed.
