Allocating a VSAM data set

  1. On the Workbench Explorer tree view, right-click the connection, and select Allocate >VSAM Data Set.  You can also open the Allocate VSAM Data Set window, from the command palette by selecting the DevX Explorer: VSAM Data Set command from the command palette.
  2. Select the Data set type. 

  3. Provide the valid data and click Allocate Data Set.
    A notification message is displayed as Data set allocated: <data set name>.
    If you want to restore the default value in all the fields for the data set, click Restore Defaults.

    Important

    You can use the Allocate Like functionality to create a new VSAM data set with the values of another specified VSAM data set.
    Click Allocate Like.. and in the VSAM data set name field, type the VSAM data set name. The data for all the fields will be populated based on the selected VSAM data set.
