Save As option

The Save As option is available for all supported z/OS data sets and z/Unix files.

When editing a file from Topaz, use the Save as option to save the results of the edit session to a different file without overwriting the existing file.

The Save as option causes the following actions during the edit session:

  • When the Selection Criteria is not used, the original file with all modifications made during the current edit session is saved to a new file.
  • When the Selection Criteria is used, you have these options to determine which records must be saved in the new file:
    • The original file with all modifications made during the current edit session.
    • Only the selected records with all modifications made during the edit session.
  • If the new file does not exist then it is allocated by the File-AID with the same attributes as the original file.
  • The Selection Criteria is dropped when the edit request is duplicated to reflect the new data set name.
  • The new request is saved when you provide a name for the request and select Save.
  • The display options entered for the original file are preserved for the edit session on the new file. The edit session on the original file continues to remain open.
