Composite Rule Actions

Composite Rule Actions disguise parts of the data using a composite definition and data item mapping to data elements. A rule can have one or more composite rule actions and/or other types of rule actions.

To add a composite rule action:

  1. Open the desired repository and project.
  2. Click the Rules tab, and select the desired rule. The list of rule actions appears in the Rule Action tab portion of the window.
  3. To add a new rule action, click Add. The Create Rule Action wizard appears.
  4. Select Composite and click Next.
  5. Type a name for your rule action. You can have more than one rule action per rule, but each rule action name must be unique within the rule.
  6. Choose the Project resource from the drop down list. The selected resource will be the resource (data element or variable) to be acted upon by the rule.
  7. Type the Field mask, which is optional.
  8. Click Next. The Data Item Mapping page appears.
  9. You have the option to change the Action name.
  10. Select a Composite field definition from the drop down box. The selected composite has the structure of the data. See Create-a-New-Composite-Definition for more information.
  11. Select a data item and map it to a data element from the adjacent drop down list. The data item derived from the composite will be disguised based on the rules defined for the data element mapping to the data item.
  12. Click Next to display Composite Failed options. This step is optional. Select the options to apply when the source value cannot be processed by the composite definition. Since the composite definition is not able to process the source value, the disguise rules defined for each of the mapped data elements cannot be applied.
  13. Select Finish to create a new composite rule action with composite and data item mapping. A new composite rule action will appear in the Rule Action list, and the data elements selected as a project resource will appear as a children to the selected rule.
