Task 5.2 Deploy Workbench to end users
You can deploy Workbench for Eclipse to multiple end users via a silent install. Silent install is a command line install with no user interface. You can use deployment tools, such as System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), to run the silent install on multiple workstations.
To install or upgrade end users via silent install
- Run the install, recording all inputs to a response file. A response file is important for customizing the install options and location to be installed.
- Edit the response file for customization.
- Create a script to perform the following tasks:
- For first-time users, install Workbench for Eclipse. You can then copy an initialized, configured workspace to the users’ workstations. For more information, see Task-5-1-2-Configure-Workbench-for-First-time-Users.
- For existing users, upgrade Workbench for Eclipse.
To use a user-created script to perform the uninstall and subsequent install of a newer version:
- Wait at least 60 seconds between the uninstall and installation to allow enough time for the system to clear the folders.
- (Recommended) Before installing, make sure that the script is designed to verify whether the Topaz install directory has been removed.
