Copying files from Windows to z/OS


Users can copy files from Windows to z/OS.

To copy files from Windows to z/OS

  1. Right-click on the file/folder that you want to copy from Windows and select Copy. You can also press Ctrl+C (to copy). 
  2. Right-click on the z/OS PDS to which you want to copy the file/folder and select Paste. You can also press Ctrl+V (to paste).
    The Copy dialog box is displayed.

    You can view the new Source file encoding group. In the Source file encoding group, you can view the following options:

      • File encoding: This option shows the following Windows codepage name value including UTF-8

          Important

          The text file encoding group should describe the encoding of the data in all the Windows files that are part of the current copy. Files created on Windows have the text file encoding labeled Default.

      • Inherited from workspace: This option shows the Text file encoding value from Window >Preferences >General>Workspace.

        Important

        When Workbench is installed on a US Windows the default value will be Cp1252.  The Inherited workspace value might differ on Windows installed with a different language.  

  3. If you want to run the file copy process in the background without interrupting your daily workflows, click the Run in background check box. Once the files are copied, you see the notification. Click View Copy Results in the notification message to view the details.
  1. Click Copy.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
