Import a Composite Definition
Composite definitions can be imported from an XML file for use in a project. The imported composites include the entire composite definition, including all data items and data item categories used by the composites being imported.
The import process will never overwrite anything in the project. If the name of the composite being imported is a duplicate of an existing composite name, that entire composite definition will be bypassed during import. If the name of a data item or category being imported is a duplicate of an existing data item or category, the import will be bypassed for the duplicate data item or category, but the remainder of the composite definition will be imported.
A composite definition can be imported into multiple projects. To import a composite definition into a project, that project must be open. The user role assigned determines who can modify a project by importing a composite definition into the project. For more information, see Manage-Security and Role-Authorizations.
To import a composite definition:
- Select and open the desired project from the Rules Explorer view.
- Select the Composites tab. This opens the Composites view.
- Click Import and browse to the location of the XML file for the desired composites.
- Select the desired file and click Import. The composite definitions now appears in the Composites view.
