Using Non-virtualized Test without the Repository Server

Starting with Release 20.03, it is possible to use the Total Test Scenario and much of the functionality without having to setup the Total Test server with the MongoDB database and setup JCL skeletons on the mainframe. Out of the box, the Total Test Scenario can be used with all elements from the palette that don't require JCL skeletons on the mainframe. That means that non-virtualized Batch testing can be started right away. For example, it is possible to

  • Submit and verify a Job
  • Retrieve the content of a spool file or a data set and verify the content with a Verify expression
  • Use the Excel spreadsheet integration with the Variable element
  • Select and update DB tables with the SQL Select and SQL Update element
  • Use the Data Studio integration to extract or load related data into DB
  • Compare output files with expected files with File-AID Compare element
  • etc.

The only elements that are not available are

  • Functional Test
  • Verify Data set
  • Read Records
  • Write Records

All other elements only require an HCI connection and can be used directly without any setup.
