Accessing z/OS UNIX Data

Following are the instructions for accessing z/OS UNIX data.
If you have not already started Workbench for Eclipse and File-AID Data Editor, see Opening-the-File-AID-Data-Editor.
To Access the File-AID Data Editor z/OS UNIX files Editor:

  1. You must define a filter to access z/OS UNIX files. Right-click on z/OS UNIX Files and select Add Filter. The Filter dialog box appears.

    Important

If you have already defined a filter, you can expand the filter and continue expanding down through directories until you reach the z/OS UNIX file you want to access.

  2. Fill in the Filter (path name, usually starting with forward slash (/)) for the z/OS UNIX files you want to access. You can use the asterisk (*) wild card at any node of the path name after the first slash. Click OK to save and process the filter.

    Important

When defining a filter, you may enter a tilde (~) as the first character. This represents your home directory. When the filter is processed, the tilde will be replaced with the full path to your home directory.

  3. Select the z/OS UNIX file you want to browse or edit, then either double-click, or right-click and select File-AID Data Editor. The File-AID Data Editor z/OS UNIX Request view appears. For more information, see Requesting-z-OS-UNIX-Data.
  4. Enter your layout usage, file processing options, and selection criteria, then click Run. This will navigate to the data editor where you can view or edit your data.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
