Accessing IMS Data

Following are the instructions for accessing IMS data.
If you have not already started Workbench for Eclipse and File-AID Data Editor, see Opening-the-File-AID-Data-Editor.
To Access the File-AID Data Editor IMS Editor:

  1. You must define a filter to access IMS databases. Right-click on File-AID for IMS and select Add Filter. The IMS Filter dialog box appears.

    Important

If you have already defined a filter, you can expand the filter and continue expanding down through PSBs and DBDs until you reach the database you want to access.

  2. Use the Environment pull-down to select the IMS system to access for this filter, then choose Dynamic or Static PSB processing, and if static fill in the PSB Name, and then the DBD Name you want to access. You can use the asterisk (*) wild card at any point including the first character. Click OK to save and process the filter.

    Important

    • Defaults for the IMS filter may be specified in the IMS tab of the File-AID Data Editor preferences. (Windows > Preferences > BMC > File-AID Data Editor.)
    • You may optionally provide your own PSB library to search first for PSBs matching your static PSB Name mask.
    • You may optionally provide your own DBD library to search first for DBDs matching your DBD Name mask.
    • IMS Environments available to the File-AID Data Editor are the same environments defined in your File-AID for IMS configuration.
    • File-AID Data Editor supports IMS releases up to release 13.
    • In IMS Managed Catalog Environments, you are limited to static PSB selection because the database data is only available to, and controlled by, the IMS subsystem region.
  3. Expand the resulting list and select the DBD name (database) you wish to browse or edit, then either:

    1. double-click or
    2. right-click and select File-AID Data Editor.

The IMS File-AID Data Editor Request view appears. For more information, see Requesting-IMS-Data.

  4. Enter your IMS access options and click Run. This will navigate to the data editor, where you can view or edit your data
