Rename a Data Element

To rename a data element for a project, that project must be open. All data elements for a particular project are listed on the Data Elements tab. Select a data element and click the Edit button to change the name of the data element. Renaming will cause the name of the data element to be changed everywhere that data element is used. If the rule logic is invalid and unable to be parsed, the data element will not be renamed within the rule logic. The user role assigned determines who can rename a data element. To rename a data element:

  1. Select and open the desired project from the Rules Explorer view.
  2. Select the Data Elements tab. This opens the Data Elements view.
  3. Select the data element you want to rename and click Edit. This opens the Edit Data Element Wizard dialog box. The Data element name field displays the current name of the data element.
  4. In the Data element name field, overtype the data element name with the desired new data element name.

  5. Click Finish. You will return to the Data Elements view with the new data element name listed.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
